Joann Hosken

I have been involved in most things aquatic as far back as my memory allows me to remember. I grew up in Albury NSW then moved to the big smoke at the age of 12. All the schools I attended had fabulous learn to swim programs back then; this is not the case anymore!! My dream is for all children to have access to vital lifesaving water safety and learn to swim programmes. My husband Rod and I are giving it our all to get this happening down on Phillip Island in Victoria. One step at a time....

My experience working with children and in aquatics is wide and diverse. Past endeavours include:

•   Teaching swimming all around Oz and the U.S.A
•   Activities and kids club co-ordinator – Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas
•   Dive and snorkel guide- Great Barrier Reef QLD
•   Extensive experience working with the disabled, both children and adults. Including teaching, assistance and caring, community awareness, hydro-                therapy, swim instruction and of course lots of play.

•   Family day-care operator

I am Auswim qualified in:

•   Teacher of swimming and water safety
•   Infant Aquatics
•   Competitive strokes
•   Disabilities

I adore working with children, laughing so hard that I cry, travelling and all day stints at the beach.

I am passionate about my work and endeavour to better my skills through training and focus as our dream slowly becomes a reality. I feel good in the fact that what we do every day is providing skills that will be embraced for life!
